Fishing for Trophy Trout at Pipestem

April 7 - May 17, 2017
Pipestem Resort State Park

Outstanding fishing for local rainbow trout of various sizes leaning on the heavy side, with a significant percentage of trophy trout in the 3-7 pound class is an outdoor opportunity at Pipestem Resort State Park in 2017.   The catch and release stream will be stocked to encourage anglers to enjoy a 'close to wilderness experience'  in West Virginia, but a tram ride to or from comfortable accommodations is a bonus.  This experience occurs before Mountain Creek Lodge opens for the traditional summer season.

Two Options

"Fishing for Trophy Trout" with accommodations at Mountain Creek Lodge.

Comfortable accommodations are along the Bluestone River and anglers stay at Mountain Creek Lodge, a streamside lodge in a secluded canyon.   Mountain Creek Lodge bookings are available starting April 7, 2017 for the Fishing for Trophy Trout Package at Pipestem. The rate is $89 per person; double occupancy is $108 plus applicable taxes.  The overnight is accommodations only.  Overnight guests also receive a 20% gift shop discount coupon at check-in. Restaurant service at Mountain Creek hours vary – ask about restaurant services when making your Trophy Trout reservation.

Anglers taking advantage of Trophy Trout experience have tram transit to the Bluestone River gorge. The tram operates two times each day during the April 7 – May 17 dates.  The morning run departs into the gorge at 7:30 a.m. and returns from the gorge to Canyon Rim in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Tram operation is based on weather conditions for tram operation guidelines.

Fishing Only

The tram fee for Trophy Trout Fishing only access is $40 per round trip.  The morning run departs into the gorge at 7:30 a.m. and returns from the gorge to Canyon Rim in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. An option of transport from the gorge at a later time is available for an additional fee.

Miscellaneous Information
